Sustainability at Collombatti Cottage

Pre-Fabulous!

Yes, she is pre-fabu-ulous! This rainwater and renewable-powered cottage was built locally off-site then transported to Collombatti.

The modular build process incorporated essential sustainable design principles such as passive design, natural ventilation, thermal comfort, ecologically sensitive materials, water conservation, materials wastage reduction and energy efficiency to adhere to what we believe to be essential building standards to reduce environmental effects.

The sustainable construction processes involve economical material usage, minimal site impacts and quality control within the factory environment to minimise the ecological impact and improve the performance of the building.

It is logical for us to have a similarly conscious approach to how it functions. We have packed as many sustainable features into the property as possible - double glazing, all electric and solar fed, additional insulation including under floor.

From a day to day perspective, it also means that our waste products are considered - we use Xero Co cleaning products and make our own Collombatti Cottage personal care range to reduce single use plastics. All waste is filtered through a worm farm septic system. We ask that you utilise the kitchen island bin system to its full advantage by using the compost, general and recyclable receptacles accordingly.
